Get to Know: Sullivan’s Gulch

Nestled in the heart of the Northeast Portland lies a neighborhood with a story as rich as its character. Say hello to Sullivan's Gulch, a vibrant community that effortlessly blends the charm of yesteryears with the buzz of modern urban living.

A Little History!

Once upon a time, this area was a lush forest, abundant with natural springs and vibrant wildlife, nestled alongside a gulch that overflowed every year. Its name pays homage to Timothy Sullivan, an Irishman and one of the early farmers in these parts. As the late 19th century rolled in, the city made a significant decision – to cover the gulch and make way for progress, thus setting the stage for a remarkable transformation.
Fast-forward to today, and Sullivan’s Gulch is a thriving, cozy neighborhood that cherishes its roots while embracing the future. It cozies up to the Lloyd District and shares its borders with Irvington, Grant Park, and Kerns.
